Axis Bank iConnect Phishing Alert!

After HDFC bank phishing email scam, I got an email today allegedly from Axis Bank that there is an “Irregular Account Activity” and that my account has been locked. How do I know this is a fraud? Well… to start with I don’t even have an Axis bank account and secondly the links on the email are from the same domain as the scam email from HDFC bank.

Below is the content of the email. Please beware if you get such an email.

Dear Valued Customer,

We detected irregular activity on your Axis Bank Account on 1/21/2009. For your protection, you must verify this activity before you can continue using your card. This means your ATM card was not swiped in a machine for this transaction. Please note that this transaction was not billed and was placed under review upon your verifications. Either your information has been modify by a third party or incomplete, as a result your access to use our Internet services has been limited. Please update your online account information to help us validate your identity.

To fully restore the acess to online services, kindly update your information. You can update your online banking details by clicking following the link below. We will review the activity on your account with you and upon verification, we will remove any restrictions placed on your account.

For your security, access to Internet Banking has been locked. To regain access, you must update and Confirm your online banking account details.
