List of Unapproved Institutions by AICTE

As per the AICTE Act (52) of 1987 and the Regulations laid down there under, approval is mandatory for any institution offering Technical Education Programmes in Engineering & Technology, Management, Computer Applications, Architecture & Town Planning, Pharmacy, Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Applied Arts and Craft, in India with or without Foreign University Collaboration.

It has come to the notice of the Council that several institutions are offering courses in the field of Technical Education without obtaining mandatory approval from AICTE. The Council has been collecting information through newspapers, websites, complaints received from students and general public and other sources, about such institutions conducting courses in the field of Technical Education without obtaining mandatory approval from AICTE.

  3. There are many good institutions in this list. The AICTE is a stipud organisation killing our countries growth. Its high time that we freed the education system from government regulations.

    Thanks for your guideline against such fake instituation. But isn’t AICTE responsible to think about it and make it legal by approving it. It might light up the life of many students who can’t go for highly reputed instituation, these will create competition against the reputed instituations….

  50. The easiest way to know wether your Univ or college is AICTE approved or not is to talk to them directly and get the facts straight. If there is still some doubt, as them for sometime in written stating that they are approved.

    Dear All,
    Any Pvt university estabished by a legislation of any state government does not require the approval of AICTE for running any technical course (Please refer to the Decision of honorable Supreme Court CASE NO.:Appeal (civil) 2056 of 1999 of PETITIONER:
    BHARATHIDASAN UNIVERSITY & ANR.Vs.RESPONDENT:ALL INDIA COUNCIL FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION & ORS.BENCH:S. Rajendra Babu & Doraiswamy Raju).You need to find out whether that university you are asking about is formed by the Legislative Assembly of the state or not. UGC approval is necessary for them but It is given to the Pvt. University only when it starts running its courses in full swing. So if there is any new Pvt. University please wait for atleast three to six months for the approval of UGC. Any way UGC is bound to approve a university formed by the Government of a State after follwoing the legal process for in totality.

  110. Robbie.. u can ask the institute to show the approval letter, reference No…date etc. Normally it is mentioned invariably on the propectus. If not u can put legal challenge, for false claim and claim compensation.
