Teacher stopped from hurling shoe at colleague

The ‘shoe’ is back in news. After a journalist tossed one at the Home Minster on Tuesday, a teacher was held responsible for threatening to throw his at a colleague on Wednesday The place of action was Atma Ram Sanatam Dharma (ARSD) College, where the teachers were attending a staff council meeting.

The teachers reportedly came to blows until one of the frustrated teachers came close to hurling his footwear at his opponent.

“The staff council was discussing an eight-point programme including the imple- mentation of OBC reservation in the college. One faction of teachers raised the question of implementation of various administrative matters by officiating principal Dr Kavita Bhatia,” physics teacher Vijendra Sharma said.

“The faction supporting the principal then joined the argument. I.M. Jha, a political science teacher took out his shoe to throw on a senior commerce teacher,” Sharma said.

“But he was stopped by colleagues,” he said. Jha did not deny the report completely.

“Those who have personal grudges against me are exaggerating,” he said. Principal Kavita Bhatia too denied reports about the shoe-throwing incident.
