As I was doing my daily rounds on the internet, looking at websites trying to spot some irregularities I came upon magicbricks.com and indiaproperty.com. Both are major property portals in India. While magicbricks.com is backed by IndiaTimes, indiaproperty.com is operated by Consim Info Pvt. Ltd. (formerly BharatMatrimony group)

If you look at both their logos they have something in common, both boast of being the Number 1 portal for Property in India. Now how can this be? While IndiaProperty also powers Yahoo’s property channel in India and recently IndiaProperty.com was ranked, the Best Indian Real Estate Website by PC World, I could not find anything which states the credibility magicbricks.com. Another thing to keep in mind is the year for which PC World gave Indiaproperty.com the title… its 2007. Which means the award is a year old and as of now holds no importance.

I don’t know what is the deal behind the #1 tag, especially when the portals award themselves with this position every year.
